Facebook is a powerful social media networking platform which one can use to generate leads for any business for free. Ranked #2 globally by Alexa.com & #3 in the U.S., Facebook gets over 600,000 new signups every single day and currently has over 300 million active users. The fastest growing demographic are those 35 years old and older. This is a marketers dream come true, that said, you’ve got to know what you’re doing to attract prospects to you.  When using any form of social media to market you want to be personable and approachable so you can connect with others of similar interests. It’s like going to a party and wanting to meet new people. Facebook is a great place to connect and offers many ways to brand yourself but you don’t want to dive in and start pitching your primary business opportunity.

Here’s how you want to start out.

1. Profile Page

The profile page is where you begin to brand yourself. Upload a good picture of yourself and put some information about you and only you. Your focus isn’t your business, its people and building relationships with them. Do not mention your business opportunity on you profile. Write about your friends, family, hobbies, express your passions and anything that brings you joy.

2. Facebook Photos/Videos

Show people what kind of life you lead by adding photos of different activities you enjoy. People will tend to see similarities in their personalities and they will get attracted to you as you share your transparency. Making a welcome to my profile video or any kind of information sharing video would be a great way to let others hear your voice.

3. Friends Birthdays

Folks love it when you remember their birthdays. I know I do! Make sure you have this notification turned on. Facebook makes it really easy as their feature can remind you of upcoming birthdays. When this notification is on, you’ll receive an email informing you of upcoming friend’s birthdays for the following week. Here’s how to turn it on.

  1. Log into Facebook Account
  2. Click on Settings (top of the page)
  3. Select Account Settings
  4. Click on the Notifications Tab
  5. Place a checkmark on the option “Has a birthday coming up (weekly email)
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Save Changes button.

When you’re ready to wish someone a Happy Birthday, send them a quick video instead of a quick note. You’ll stand out from the crowd big time. Remember you want to establish great partnerships with like minded individuals.
